The Black Farmer sponsors Coeliac Award

The Black Farmer® Sponsors Coeliac UK Award

As part of its national ‘Get Tested!’ awareness-raising initiative, brand leading gluten free sausages The Black Farmer is sponsoring this year’s “Awareness Raising Champion” Award in Coeliac UK’s annual awards, to celebrate those who have gone out of their way to promote awareness of coeliac disease in the UK.

Says passionate gluten free campaigner, Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones aka The Black Farmer, “Raising awareness of this disease is fundamental to getting more people correctly diagnosed.  Hundreds of thousands of people are living with a gluten intolerance without knowing it, yet their health and quality of life is being severely compromised through mis-diagnosis.”

The “Awareness Raising Champion” recognizes an individual who has significantly and passionately raised awareness of coeliac disease locally, nationally or both.  This individual will have demonstrably brought about change either with healthcare professionals, the food sector or parliamentarians.  This Award celebrates the effort taken to achieve change.

“I would like to urge as many people as possible to enter themselves or someone they know into these awards.  Full details can be found via Nominations close on June 7th.

In further support of Coeliac Awareness Week The Black Farmer sausage and bacon products will carry ‘Get Tested!’ stickers encouraging people who think they might have a gluten intolerance to get a simple blood test at their GPs.  Also, the brand is campaigning hard for people to sign a petition to the government to make coeliac diagnosis a priority target for GPs
